Welcome to the updated LEGO cat figures article, where you can find all cats ever produced in LEGO form; big, small, old, new, if it’s made, it’s here. Of course there may be a few I don’t know about, but if it’s announced officially, there’s a good chance you’ll find it here.
I tried to find photographs of the ones I don’t have in my collection. However, it wasn’t always possible. If you own any of these, and want to contribute, please let me know.

Right, so let’s begin!
First Cats
The first cat figure dates back to 1994, to LEGO Belville and Scala sets. The figures made for these themes were like Barbie dolls, so the cats are a bit bigger than regular minifigures. However, they look perfect next to the theme’s dolls.
These sets have two different types of cats, adult and cub. Both have printed and unprinted versions. Unprinted adult cats are white and dark gray, printed ones are white and black. Unprinted kittens are black, white, dark brown and medium nougat, whereas printed ones are white, very light bluish gray, medium nougat and very light orange.
Fun fact: I thought the very light bluish gray cat was in fact white. You know how these plastic parts change color throughout the years, or get dirty from being displayed? It turned out it was a whole other color!
The adult cats were produced until 2007. Kittens, probably because they were more acceptable in terms of scale, jumped to System sets, and continued to be seen until 2016.
LEGO Friends Cat Figures
With the year 2012, the Friends theme comes into our lives and brings brand new cat figures. At first, there were two types of cats in Friends sets, one sitting and one standing. Standing ones were produced in light bluish gray, white and dark orange. They were last seen in 2022, as an Angora cat with one eye blue and one eye yellow.
The sitting cat is released in 2013 and in the following years, at least one new version is released every year, either with a different color or a different print. These colors include natural colors like black, white, sand blue, bright light orange, dark orange, light bluish gray, tan and yellow, as well as crazy colors like dark azure, lavender, magenta, pearl gold, coral, bright light blue and light aqua. It’s possible to see different prints on cats sharing the same color, some of these being special characters (like Lucifer from Cinderella and Marcel from Princess and the Frog). In 2023, we see our first cat with closed eyes.
2021 is an important year for Friends cats, because a kitten is released for the first time. There are three with natural colors, dark orange, bright light orange and sand blue, and three with crazy colors, dark pink, dark turquoise and medium lavender. In 2023, black and nougat are added to the family. Is it just me, or does the black one look like a know-it-all??
A new cat mould comes with the 2023 Friends sets. Resembling a Persian breed, this chubby and flat-faced cat is produced in white and dark brown. In 2024 an orange one is made along with an astro-cat.
LEGO System Cat
I think calling this the first System cat wouldn’t be too wrong. Even though there was a kitten before, its origin was Scala and Belville, not System. I think this cat was inspired by the first adult cat. To me, it looks like a smaller, more refined version of it.
This cat comes to life with the Grandma figure from the CMF 11 series, and continues to show itself in different colors and different themes in the following years. We start with light bluish gray and continue with dark orange, black, medium nougat, dark bluish gray, bright light orange, dark tan and orange. Some of these cats are special characters, like Crookshanks and Mrs. Norris from Harry Potter, Sox from Lightyear and Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus. There’s also a glitter trans-light blue cat, representing the Patronus spell from the Harry Potter universe.
Thanks to The LEGO Movie 2, the dark orange cat gets punk hair and a nailed collar. The same cat shows up in Monkie Kid sets, this time in medium azure body and with orange hair. As if this wasn’t enough, there’s a version of it wearing sunglasses and a fanny pack.
A new kitty arrives in 2002 and manages to make me squeal with its cuteness. It’s a System kitten, and comes in white, dark bluish gray, and dark orange. A medium azure is added to the collection in 2023, representing the cat from the Monkie Kid theme as a kitten. This mould also has an unprinted version in dark bluish gray.
Special cats, special moulds
There are three special characters in LEGO cat figures: Snowball from The Simpsons and Dreamy and Treasure from Whisker Haven Tales.
Snowball comes with Simpsons CMF 2 series in 2015. He accompanies Lisa, has a dark bluish gray body with a red collar and like everyone in the series, has buggy eyes. Even though I was never able to like The Simpsons, I don’t have any negative thoughts towards Snowball, the figure is really well-designed.
Dreamy and Treasure are from 2016. Dreamy has a bright pink body with a dark pink tail and “hair”. Treasure is red with medium lavender hair and tail. Even though I’m not 100% sure, as far as I can understand from the images, they are approximately two bricks high.
There are a few more cats I couldn’t decide whether to add here or not, but decided to go with it anyway. Bricklink classifies most of them as minifigures, and one as an animal. These are the weird (in a good way) cats from Gabby’s Dollhouse sets of 2024.
Top row from left to right is Pandy Paws, MerCat, DJ Catnip, Kitty Fairy. Bottom row is Baby Box, Cakey, Baby Cupcake and Kittycorn. Pandy Paws, MerCat and Baby Cupcake is made of two parts, the rest is a single part. Kittycorn is the only one that’s classified as an animal. I loved its name when I first saw it. We had Unikitty with The LEGO Movie, now we have Kittycorn, too :)
LEGO DUPLO Cat Figures
DUPLO cats started their journey in 1998. Since then, they’ve appeared in 71 sets in 5 different moulds, a total of 15 different cats. The colors they’re produced in are light gray, light bluish gray, medium blue, white, bright light orange, dark orange, dark pink and medium nougat. You can see them all below.
I only have one kind of these DUPLO cats, so I don’t know too much about their sizes. However, I did manage to find the image below which may gave some idea.
